Addressing Trauma in Individuals With IDD

Date:
Tuesday, July 18, 2023
Time:
2 PM ET
Duration:
1 hour

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are just as likely to experience and be affected by a traumatic event as anyone else. Personal injury, natural disasters, or mass events like the pandemic can cause an individual to experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress. However, there are some types of trauma that individuals with IDD are more likely to experience. Abuse, interpersonal violence, and neglect are unfortunately common experiences in this population.

Join us Tuesday, July 18 at 2 PM ET, to hear Rachel Fuller and Rachel Neumann discuss ways to recognize and understand trauma when it relates to individuals with IDD.

In this webinar, you’ll learn how to:

  • Define trauma and its prevalence among the IDD community.
  • Recognize the impact of trauma in all areas of an individual’s life.
  • Identify the importance of and methods for using trauma-informed care.
